Cisco Router Emulator

Website for GNS3.net -This is a great FREE program for people to use router EMULATION in a "lab" environment. So ever wished you had the lab but never had time to physically set it up or even try and buy equipment for?

This is a great solution and I am now using this to help play with scenarios for my Network at work and study for CCNP questions.

CAVEAT - You need Cisco IOS images. If you do not own cisco equipment or a CCO support contract this doesnt really help you a lot. That and there are specific images it can run only, but for the price I cant complain!

Synergy for mouse keyboard sharing over TCP/IP

So I have been using a program between my XP, Ubuntu Desktop and my Ubuntu Laptop called Synergy. The version I am using on my "host" computer is 1.3.1 - Website Link

What does this program do - you ask? Simply put you can control multiple computers over your Ethernet / Wireless network via TCP / IP so that one Keyboard and Mouse will control all of these systems.

Laptop - Ubuntu - Dapper Drake LTS
Desktop - Dual Monitor Windows XP
Desktop - Dual Boot XP / Ubuntu Edgy EFT

SO what is the real point? It makes other computers that would normally be a pain to switch to, or possibly a RDP connection to only, now usable on the fly over your network. All this without having to switch your KVM or even pull out different keyboards to access them. I dont really use all three computers simultaneously, but I do different tasks on each so it makes things a bit better for me.

I got this idea from hak.5 so they are a great resource for some fun and interesting things to do with your computer.

Since my last entry, but who's counting? Either rate I found a cool thing about getting %50 off a Juniper test if you have any Cisco equivalent certification. Ive passed the associate level prequalification but I want to finish my CCNP first then get this certification that may do me no good but would be cool to have :p

NFL experience 2008

So I was lucky enough to have two tickets to this thing called the NFL experience and thankfully they didnt take one of the tickets for my 3 year old son :-) So after I got in a quick call to my sister got my nephew there in about 30 mins and he got to enjoy it too :-)
